Volunteers needed to help the community garden on Kane Street in La Crosse

30,000 pounds of food come out of the garden every year

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The La Crosse Hunger Task Force is looking for your help.

The organization is looking for volunteers for the community garden on Kane Street.

Work begins on Tuesday to prepare the ground before sowing begins in April.

About 30,000 pounds of food come out of the garden every year, thanks to volunteers.

“A lot of different things are going out there and just one way to go out, to enjoy the sun. Get out into the air, get your hands dirty and help us out,” said Hunger Task Force Executive Director Shelly Fortner.

About 2,500 people are needed to help.

You can register as a volunteer in line.
